This bracelet represents the journey that Kate Macfarlane is on. She was diagnosed with aplastic anemia in August 2021. Aplastic anemia is bone morrow failure. Bone marrow is your blood factory and it produces red cells, white cells, and platelets. It is very similar to leukemia, but instead of producing cancer cells, aplastic anemia produces no cells. Kate will go through radiation and chemo starting 10/20 and then after that she will receive her sister, Leah’s, bone marrow on 10/26. There is a 25% chance of having a sibling be the perfect match for a bone marrow transplant, and Kate’s only sibling/sister is the perfect match for her. The color for aplastic anemia (Kate’s diagnosis) is the red and white and the color for bone marrow transplant (our hero Leah) is the green in this bracelet. Being a small business that is owned by three sisters, we admire the relationship Kate and Leah have and we are inspired by their story. All the proceeds coming from our “Kate & Leah Bracelet” will go straight to them.
