14k gold-filled vs plated
There is a big difference between “gold filled” and “gold plated.” It’s good to know the difference so that you know what to shop for and what you are getting for your buck.
Gold Plated: the process of gold plating is when there is a small layer of gold applied over a base metal, usually brass. The amount of real gold that is used is very minuscule, which is why gold plating will wear off pretty quick.
Gold-Filled: the process of making gold filled materials is made by wrapping layers and mechanically bonding solid gold sheet around a base metal. Gold-filled has a long lasting amount of gold in it. The process of adhering solid gold sheets makes for jewelry that does not tarnish, peel, or chip.
At SIS we exclusively use high quality materials that we believe in. We are very confident that our 14k gold-filled is high quality, durable, and will last you a long time.
